Championship standings

Max Verstappen leads the Drivers’ Championship with 295 points, 70 ahead of Lando Norris and 103 ahead of Charles Leclerc. Red Bull Racing leads the Constructors’ Championship with 434 points, but McLaren (404) has closed the gap to just 30 points, with Ferrari a further 34 behind in third at 370.

Previous race

At the Dutch Grand Prix, Norris took his second career victory — breaking Verstappen’s streak of wins at Zandvoort since the circuit’s return in 2021 — with Verstappen second and Leclerc third.

Entrants

Franco Colapinto replaces Logan Sargeant at Williams from this race onwards, making his Formula One race debut. Sargeant was released from his seat following the Dutch Grand Prix. Kimi Antonelli drives for Mercedes in place of George Russell during the first practice session, making his Formula One practice debut.

Pre-weekend incident

On Thursday before the race weekend, the Formula One safety car crashes off the track at turn 11 during a high-speed test. Driver Bernd Mayländer and passenger Richard Darker are not injured.

Partly cloudy conditions are expected for race day.

Tyre choices

Pirelli brings the C3, C4, and C5 tyre compounds — the softest three in their range — designated hard, medium, and soft respectively.

Track changes

The entire Monza Circuit has been resurfaced ahead of this event, alongside broader facility improvements. The DRS zone leading into turn 1 has been extended by 103 metres.

Practice

The first free practice session is topped by Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing ahead of Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris. Debutant Kimi Antonelli spins at turn 11, crashing into the wall and causing a temporary session stoppage. The second session is topped by Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes ahead of Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr. The third session is topped by Hamilton ahead of George Russell and Leclerc.
