Championship standings

Norris leads the Drivers’ Championship with 390 points, twenty-four ahead of Piastri in second and forty-nine ahead of Verstappen in third. McLaren have already secured the Constructors’ Championship.

Previous race

Norris won both the sprint and the main race in São Paulo from pole position. Piastri crashed out of the sprint and finished fifth in the grand prix. Verstappen finished fourth in the sprint and third in the race — the latter from a pit lane start. Bortoleto suffered heavy crashes in both races, his sprint accident destroying the car completely and forcing him out of qualifying. Antonelli finished second in both events.

Milestones

This is the third running of the Las Vegas Grand Prix on the Strip circuit, and the 150th Formula One entry for both Norris and Russell.

Tyre choices

Pirelli brings the C3, C4 and C5 compounds — designated hard, medium and soft.

Practice

Leclerc topped FP1 ahead of Albon and Tsunoda. FP2 was led by Norris ahead of Antonelli and Leclerc, but was twice halted by red flags after a loose drain cover near turn 17 continued to move even after the first stoppage. FP3 was topped by Russell ahead of Verstappen and Albon.
