Piastri leads the Drivers’ Championship with 198 points, twenty-two ahead of Norris and forty-three ahead of Verstappen in third.

Previous race

Russell won in Canada for his and Mercedes’s first victory of the season. Verstappen finished second. Antonelli took third — his maiden Formula One podium — making him the third-youngest podium finisher in the sport’s history and the first Italian driver on the podium since Jarno Trulli at the 2009 Japanese Grand Prix. Norris collided with Piastri in the closing stages and retired; he admitted fault and received a five-second penalty.

Alex Dunne replaces Norris at McLaren in FP1, making his Formula One practice debut. Dino Beganovic replaces Leclerc at Ferrari in FP1.
