Championship standings

Both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles have been decided. Max Verstappen leads the Drivers’ Championship by 124 points from Charles Leclerc in second and 126 from Sergio Pérez in third. Red Bull Racing leads Ferrari by 187 points and Mercedes by 240 in the Constructors’ Championship.

Previous race

Verstappen won the United States Grand Prix to clinch the Constructors’ Championship for Red Bull Racing — their first since 2013. Sainz was spun into retirement at turn 1 by Russell. Hamilton took the lead when Verstappen had a slow pit stop before Verstappen overtook him on lap 50. A mid-race collision between Alonso and Stroll sent Alonso airborne; Alonso continued and finished but later received a 30-second penalty due to a dislodged mirror — a penalty subsequently overturned four days later after the FIA ruled Haas’s protest was submitted outside the 30-minute window.

Lance Stroll carries a three-place grid penalty for causing the collision with Fernando Alonso at the United States Grand Prix.

Pietro Fittipaldi drives for Haas in place of Kevin Magnussen, Logan Sargeant for Williams in place of Alexander Albon, Liam Lawson for AlphaTauri in place of Yuki Tsunoda, Nyck de Vries for Mercedes in place of George Russell, and Jack Doohan for Alpine in place of Esteban Ocon — making his Formula One practice debut — all during FP1.
