2020 Tuscan Grand Prix

Previous race

Pierre Gasly won the Italian Grand Prix for AlphaTauri — his and the team’s first Formula One victory. Hamilton, leading the race, was forced to serve a stop-and-go penalty; Leclerc’s retirement under the safety car had triggered a red flag that Hamilton used to pit, but the pit lane was closed. Carlos Sainz Jr. finished second and Lance Stroll third. It was the first time since the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix that Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull all failed to score a podium finish.

Milestones

This is Ferrari’s 1000th race in the Formula One World Championship. The SF1000 carries a special dark burgundy livery in place of the traditional rosso corsa. Both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc wear special race overalls and helmet designs to mark the occasion. The safety car runs in a red livery instead of its usual silver.

The Mugello Circuit hosts a World Championship Formula One race for the first time.

Entrants

Up to 2,880 spectators are permitted — the first spectators at any race this season. All previous eight rounds were held behind closed doors.

Pirelli brings the C1, C2, and C3 compounds — the three hardest available.
