Hamilton leads the Drivers’ Championship by 30 points from Verstappen. Bottas is a further 4 points behind Verstappen in third. Mercedes leads the Constructors’ Championship by 67 points from Red Bull. Ferrari are in third, 58 points behind Red Bull and 2 points ahead of fourth-placed McLaren.

Between-race developments

Pérez returned a negative COVID-19 test and has been cleared by the FIA to race this weekend. Ferrari, Renault, and Racing Point have confirmed their intention to appeal the Racing Point brake duct verdict; Williams and McLaren have withdrawn from the appeal.

Practice

Bottas topped the first practice session ahead of teammate Hamilton. Hamilton then went fastest in both the second and third sessions. In FP3, Esteban Ocon spun into the wall while trying to avoid Kevin Magnussen’s Haas.
