Championship standings

Charles Leclerc leads the Drivers’ Championship by 27 points from Max Verstappen in second and 32 from Sergio Pérez in third after the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Ferrari leads Red Bull Racing by 11 points and Mercedes by 47 in the Constructors’ Championship.

Previous race

Verstappen won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and the sprint race. Pérez finished second to give Red Bull their first 1–2 finish since the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix. Leclerc spun on lap 53 while running third, eventually recovering to sixth; Sainz was eliminated on the opening lap in a collision with Ricciardo.

This is the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, held at the new Miami International Autodrome in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Practice

Leclerc was fastest in FP1 ahead of Russell and Verstappen, who had hydraulic and overheating issues. Bottas crashed at turn 7, bringing out a red flag.

Russell led FP2 ahead of Leclerc and Pérez. Sainz crashed into the concrete barrier at turn 14, causing a red flag.

Pérez topped FP3 ahead of Leclerc and Verstappen. Ocon crashed into the barrier at turn 14 in the closing stages, bringing out the session’s red flag.
