Bottas won Azerbaijan, with Hamilton second — Mercedes’ fourth consecutive 1–2 of the season. Leclerc set the fastest lap after pitting with under five laps remaining. Ricciardo reversed into Kvyat at turn 3 during a botched overtake attempt, retiring both cars; Ricciardo carries a three-place grid penalty here as a result.

Penalties

Ricciardo starts three places behind his qualifying position for causing the collision with Kvyat in Azerbaijan. Hülkenberg is required to start from the pit lane after changing his front wing specification during qualifying and altering brake map parameters. Giovinazzi and Russell each carry five-place penalties for unscheduled gearbox changes.
