Entrants

James Hunt makes his Formula One debut, driving a privateer March 731 entered by Hesketh Racing — the team’s championship debut as well. David Purley also makes his debut, for LEC Refrigeration Racing, his own team sponsored by his family’s refrigeration company.

Circuit changes

Monaco runs on a heavily revised layout for the first time. The circuit features a longer tunnel, a new section of track around the new swimming pool on the harbour front, and the Gasworks hairpin replaced by the Rascasse and Antony Noghès corners — the latter named after the founder of the race. The pits have been relocated to the start-finish straight on a wider pit lane, making the circuit twistier and slower than before.
