Entrants

The Australian Grand Prix marks the debut of Cadillac as the eleventh constructor — the first new team on the grid since Haas in 2016, and the first Formula One race with eleven teams since the 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Audi also make their Formula One debut with their own power unit. Ford return to the grid after a 21-year absence, supplying Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls through Red Bull Powertrains — their last involvement was with Jordan in 2004. Honda make their full return to the sport after partially withdrawing following the 2021 season, now exclusively supplying Aston Martin.

Arvid Lindblad makes his debut as a full-time driver with Racing Bulls. No stand-in drivers are entered.

Milestones

The 2026 Australian Grand Prix is the 40th running of the race as a round of the World Championship, and the 29th time it has been held at Albert Park.

Tyre choices

Pirelli brings the C3, C4, and C5 compounds — the three softest in their range — designated hard, medium, and soft respectively.

Practice

Leclerc led FP1 ahead of Hamilton and Verstappen; Piastri topped FP2 ahead of Antonelli and Russell. FP3 was delayed 20 minutes after a crash in the Formula 3 support race required barrier repairs. Russell topped FP3 ahead of Hamilton and Leclerc. Two red flags came during FP3: Sainz stopped on track with a power loss, and Antonelli crashed heavily.
