Championship standings

Verstappen leads by 145 points over Pérez, with Hamilton third, a further 49 back. Red Bull lead the Constructors’ by 310 over Mercedes, with Ferrari a further 45 behind in third.

Previous race

At Monza, Verstappen won his tenth consecutive race, breaking Vettel’s record of nine. The race began with an aborted start after Tsunoda broke down on the formation lap, and a 20-minute delay followed. Pérez recovered from a poor qualifying to finish second, with Sainz third after a strong defence of the lead in the opening laps.

Championship permutations

Red Bull Racing can secure the Constructors’ Championship at this race. They clinch the title if they score a 1–2 with the bonus point for fastest lap, provided Mercedes score one point or fewer.

Entrants

Liam Lawson continues at AlphaTauri in place of Ricciardo. Lance Stroll withdrew from the event following a crash at the end of Q1 that red-flagged the session.

Tyre choices

Pirelli brings the C3, C4, and C5 compounds — designated hard, medium, and soft.

Track changes

Turns 16 through 19 of the previous layout are removed to facilitate construction of NS Square, which is replacing The Float @ Marina Bay. They are replaced by a new straight from turn 15 to a new turn 16 (previously designated turn 20 on the old layout).

Practice

Leclerc tops FP1 ahead of Sainz and Verstappen. Sainz leads FP2 ahead of Leclerc and Russell; Albon is forced to sit out for the rest of the session after reporting engine issues. Sainz tops FP3 as well, ahead of Russell and Norris.
