Alonso won in Malaysia after both McLarens passed Massa — who had taken pole — in the first two corners. Hamilton finished second in only his second race. Räikkönen recovered to third.

Practice

Ferrari dominate the timesheets across Friday. Räikkönen leads FP1 with a 1:33.162, Massa just over half a second behind in second. Hamilton and Alonso are third and fourth, Hamilton under a second off the Ferrari pace.

Räikkönen is fastest again in the afternoon at 1:33.527. This time Massa drops to fourth, with Hamilton second and Kubica’s BMW Sauber separating the two Ferraris.

Saturday morning comes down to six thousandths of a second: Hamilton just edges Räikkönen for the fastest time of FP3. Heidfeld’s BMW is third, Kubica fourth, Davidson’s Super Aguri fifth, and Massa sixth — four tenths off Hamilton’s pace.
