Brabham won at Silverstone ahead of Surtees and Ireland. Graham Hill drove through the field to lead on lap 55 before brake problems forced him to spin at Copse and retire.

Henry Taylor crashed during practice and injured his arm. Jim Clark also had an accident in practice — an unusual occurrence for the Lotus driver.
